This post is related with my previous article “(Nokia E63) Device Lock – Memory Corrupted” at http://flamark.wordpress.com/2008/12/15/nokia-e63-device-lock-memory-corrupted/
I thought I have fixed the problem. I did. However, I discovered a new problem:
Whenever I access the Installations folder from the Menu, I can see the installed programs on my memory card. I can click them but they will not open. Yet I can open installed programs on the internal memory. So I decided to perform some troubleshooting steps.
I turned off my Nokia E63 unit and restarted the unit. I went to the Installations folder. To my suprise, the icons are gone–only for the programs that are installed on the memory card. I went to Tools >> Memory and the card is corrupted.
I removed the card and reinserted it. I checked the Installations folder and the icons are back, but still I cannot click or open the icons.
I turned off the unit again. To my surprise, the icons are missing again and the card is corrupted! I searched the net for answers. I called Nokia’s hotline. Posted questions at the discussion boards. However, I got no answers. I got responses but no clear solutions.
So what I did is I returned to the store where I bought my unit. They remove the memory card on my unit and put it on another E63. We discovered that the card is password protected! I wonder how that happened. I do not remember any instance that I have put a password on the card. It must have been the Device Lock/Remote Lock feature. It randomly put a password! Unfortunately, I do not even see on my unit that the card has a password!
So what the store is they replaced the memory card. The old card was returned to them and reformatted and kept. Everything seems to be okay now.
I bought my unit from FoneStyle at Cyberzone, SM North. They sell their E63 at a cheap price. They provide excellent customer service and support as well. The units are NTC’s approved moreover.
i have the same problem. In my case, i brought my memory card from CDRKING (kingston micro SD). I used that memory card before on my PSP. My mails are often corrupted. Most of the time i play an MP3, the phone hangs while reading the next tract. The phone seems to be stable on my 1GB memory (default). My 4gb kingston micro SD is quite old. Works fine on my PSP.
One of the possible reasons for that is you have a fake or failing memory card. Are you sure that your memory card is 100% original. How old is that card anyway?
You know that there are Class A memory cards right? They look real but they’re actually fake.
Based on my experience as well as with other E63 users who purchased the same brand (kingston), it is the compatibility that matter. I just purchased Ridata 4GB (6) micro SDHC card from CDRKING and it works flawlessly. Nokia recommends NOKIA SD CARDS.
take a truck or a car place memory card on road and crush it………….
Happy…
Plz sent me response Yaar……………
Thanks for the response. I did exactly what you suggested, and I’m very happy.
Thanks
What u guys said just happened to me now. I’m freaking out because some files from my old phone which are sooo important are lost. The bad news about it is that I already erased those files from my old phone!! Guys do you mean I lost those filed permanently? My memory card said its corrupted & the phone is telling me that it needs re formatting which means I will loose everything? Guys plss tell me what to do??
There’s still a way to recover those files even if you have deleted them from the Memory Card (unless you reformatted them). You can use a Recovery Tool to recover deleted and corrupted memory cards. Try searching Google for Zero Assumption Recovery software. It’s free for recovering files, though there’s limitation but you can bypass that by repeatedly using the tool. It’s similar to what the US forensics use to uncover hidden files on computer hard disks.
